TLB’s fundraising campaign

Theatre Lac-Brome, proud heir to a long tradition

For close to 35 years, Theatre Lac-Brome (TLB) has animated the cultural life of our region. Founded by Emma Stevens, who was its director from 1986 to 1991, TLB continued its momentum with Nicholas Pynes at the helm for the next 27 years. In 2017, TLB underwent a major renovation and began to expand its programming. In September of 2018, Dominic Boulianne was appointed head of the Theatre. At the end of 2019, actor and director Ellen David took the reins and became our new Executive Artistic Director.

Where are we today?

Open year round and exquisitely renovated, with a beautiful and versatile foyer, our beloved Theatre is a leading cultural centre in the heart of Brome-Missisquoi. Committed to meeting the needs and interests of its various audiences, the Theatre offers a wide range of quality and entertaining shows in both English and French. As everyone knows, 2020 was unfortunately marked by an unprecedented health crisis that has severely affected the cultural milieu, resulting in TLB’s temporary closure. However, we remain optimistic, and are already busy preparing for an exciting new future, and eagerly looking forward to the day when we can resume our activities!

With confidence, enthusiasm and determination, the entire team, with the leadership of Ellen David, has been hard at work preparing for an exhilarating and vibrant 2021 … our 35th season! An extensive new program will offer shows, events, plays, movies, performances and concerts in a wide range of musical genres, children’s theatre and other special activities. TLB will also welcome art exhibitions featuring local artists in our lobby, and presentations by regional organizations such as The Knowlton Players, the Knowlton Film Festival, and Knowlton Literary Festival.

Fundraising Campaign … mobilizing for the future of TLB
But we can’t do this without you! With the objective of relaunching its programming on a solid foundation, and reopening its doors in 2021 under the best possible conditions, TLB is calling on the support of all its partners and donors, through a collaborative fundraising campaign.
Titled Looking Forward to 2021 … and Beyond, the campaign’s goal is to raise $500,000 over the next two years, so that TLB can continue to distinguish itself as a stimulating performance and exhibition venue, and a major source of pride for our community.
With that mission in mind, the TLB team is proud to be associated with two energetic, motivated and well-known personalities from the world of arts, and business, who will serve as our dedicated Campaign Co-Chairs: Susan Pepler, visual artist, and Yves Desjardins-Siciliano, CEO of Siemens Mobility Canada, both residents of Knowlton.

Messages from Campaign Co-Chairs

Susan Pepler

I just love our theatre. It’s a cultural and social hub for the whole Lac-Brome area, and beyond. We really are blessed to have such a beautiful place to get together to celebrate life and the arts. I’m thrilled to be a part of this next chapter and am anticipating an exciting year ahead.

Yves Desjardins-Siciliano

As a new resident of Knowlton, I am honoured to co-chair this important initiative. Theatre Lac-Brome is a flagship of our region and, more than ever, it needs the support of all of us—donors, sponsors and partners. The year 2020 has been challenging for the arts community, deprived of its audiences and revenues. I am confident that, with the help of its supporters, TLB will be able to pursue its cultural mission.

Where do your donations go?

The money raised will go directly into two separate funds:
1. Working capital: $400,000 to cover operating expenses and program development and execution
2. Endowment fund: $100,000 to ensure TLB’s long-term financial stability

Your donation counts!
By making a financial contribution, you are a partner in the health and welfare of TLB’s long-term viability, thereby strengthening its position as a leading cultural centre in Brome-Missisquoi and increasing its influence beyond our region.
There are many levels of contribution, and no donation is too small or too large!

Directing your contribution
We have a flexible donation plan that allows you to plan your contribution in a way that works for you. For example, you could spread out your donations over 5 years, and/or make a bequest to Theatre Lac-Brome in your will. You might also want to sponsor a specific project or show. If you have a corporation, we can arrange for corporate partnerships. For more information on the various options, and ways in which you can help, please contact us.
